CFDs are traded on margin, which means that to open a position you need to deposit a small fraction of the full value of your trade. The amount depends on the market, and would typically be around 10 % to 20% for an equity CFD trade.
Equities
With City Index you can trade CFDs on thousands of individual equities listed on the Asian, US, UK, and European markets. You can take long or short positions and benefit from cost-effective trading with absolute price transparency.
We offer especially low commissions on our share CFDs, with a SGD10 flat rate on all SGD share CFDs and HKD25 on HKD share CFDs. Our commission per US share CFD is just USD0.02, with a minimum payable amount of USD5 till March 31, 2012, going up to USD15 thereafter.
Stock indices
For a broader view, you can trade CFDs on the overall stock index for markets in the UK, Europe and the US. Markets covered include the Singapore Index, UK 100, the Wall Street 30, US SP500, US TECH 100, Japan 225 and the Germany 30. As well as the other benefits, stock index CFD trading with City Index is commission-free - the cost of trading is built into the spread.
We offer some of the tightest spreads in the market on our major indices, with our spread for the Wall Street, FTSE 100, Germany 30 and France 40 at just 1 point during market hours.
Currencies
At City Index we offer CFDs on a wide range of currencies including the euro, yen, sterling, Swiss franc and the US, Canadian and Australian dollars. Our CFD spread for EUR/USD is just 1 point while we offer 2-point spreads for GBP/USD and USD/JPY.
Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs)
City Index also offers CFDs on ETFs in the UK and US markets.
